Shade Sail Installation in Tucson, AZ

Custom sails measured between your actual fixing points and tensioned until they're drum-tight.

Custom Shade Sail Installation Across Tucson

Tucson Shade Sails has installers who design, fabricate and hang custom shade sails across Tucson. Shade sail installation is mostly geometry: where the sun sits at 3 p.m. in July, where posts can go, and how high each corner needs to be.

We measure between real fixing points, then the sail is cut a little smaller so the turnbuckles have room to pull it tight. Stock-size sails rarely fit that gap, which is why they sag.

Inside Tucson city limits, sails over 400 square feet, or any sail used as a carport or patio cover, need a City permit. We check your layout against that line before ordering fabric.

How a Custom Sail Gets Built

Site measure

Fixing points marked and measured corner to corner and across both diagonals.

Fabrication

Fabric cut with curved edges, webbing-reinforced corners and stainless rings.

Tensioning

Turnbuckles drawn up evenly so the fabric is smooth with no wrinkles or flapping edges.

Final layout

Single sails or overlapping layers placed to cover the hours you use the space.

From First Call to a Finished Sail

  1. Measure. We walk the space, note the sun path and mark possible post and wall points.
  2. Design. You get a layout with sail shapes, colors, post heights and footing locations.
  3. Permit and locates. We check the City permit threshold and request Arizona 811 locates.
  4. Posts. Footings are drilled and poured, then left to cure before any load goes on.
  5. Hang and tension. Fabric goes up, hardware is tightened, and we walk you through care.

Shade Sail Installation Questions

How long does a shade sail installation take?

Posts and footings go in first and need time to cure. Hanging and tensioning the fabric usually takes a single visit after that.

Can I choose any fabric color?

Yes. Lighter colors reflect more heat; darker colors often feel cooler underneath and hide dust. We bring samples so you can see each one in your light.

Do you install sails I bought online?

We prefer to measure and supply the sail, because a stock size rarely matches your fixing points. We're happy to look at what you have.

What happens if my sail is over 400 square feet?

Inside Tucson city limits, a shade cloth structure over 400 square feet needs an Addition/Alteration permit. We prepare the layout for that review.
